Second grade students looked the art of architecture. They viewed the work of Atlanta architect John Portman and the classical architecture of Savannah. Then, they went to work as architects and designed their own city block. Next, they painted a sunset using warm colors and a river using cool colors. Finally, they about the art of printmaking and create a print of their cities and folded them so that the city would reflect into their water.

As some students finished early, they were encourage to create a city in the future to design how the buildings and cars would look. If they could image it, they could draw it. I enjoy seeing their perspective of how quickly our cities would change!
