K - Career Self Portraits

For this project, we studied portraits in art and looked at one of the most famous portraits in the world - Mona Lisa painted by Leonardo DaVinci.
We also spent time discussing what the students wanted to "be" when they grew up.  We also looked at the many different kinds of careers that people have in our communities including the many different types of art careers.  The students had definite ideas already of what future career they wanted to have.  At 6, the world of possibilities is wide open!

5th - 2 Point Perspective

I love lessons that teach a concept that the students can use as a tool to draw things that interest them and really let their imagination run wild.  This is one of those project.  The students learned how to create realistic depth in their artwork with a 2 point perspective technique.  I think they did a great job.
