Our 5th grade students studied the work of sculptor Alberto Giacometti to gain inspiration for this project. They learned about the proper proportions of the human body and practice drawing the body in motion through fast gesture drawings. Their sculptures are made of wire and tape.
Welcome! This blog has been created for my art students and their families. Here I will showcase examples of student work, provide more information about the art lessons and how the students can explore our art topics at home. Please feel free to provide feedback by leaving a comment. I also encourage you to check back often as I add further information. Thanks for visiting and enjoy!

First Grade - The art of Architecture
Our first graders learned about the art of Architecture during this unit. They tried out their skills as a architect in many ways. First by building with blocks and doing observational drawings of their creations. Two, by using stamp printing of blocks and legos to design a building on paper then painting it bright colors. Third, by testing their imaginations and problem solving skills to see if they could create a 3-dimensional building out of paper and tape. And lastly, they discussed the architecture and buildings of their community and created a class community mural with each child creating a different part.
